'Ask Fortuna' is an intriguing new fortune-generator for your iPhone, iPad, and Macintosh. It creates almost-random sayings and prescient prognostications… ah, but with a twist! These are not plagiarized lists of old quotes, nor are they completely random sentences of computer-speak; They are something in between. 'Ask Fortuna' makes millions of uniquely original sayings, guided by 'A.I.' (artificial intelligence perhaps) that imbues its prose with poetic and thought-provoking wit. You can save and send your favorite sayings to your friends, and even have 'Ask Fortuna' read the saying out loud in one of many computerized voices. Here are some examples of Ask Fortuna's serious, absurdly funny, and zen-like generated sayings:
| Fortuna is a Roman goddess who personifies luck and fortune, both good and bad. This playful application calls upon her to spin the original 'wheel of fortune' and deliver a cornucopia of sayings that are equal parts funny, random, portentous, and thought-provoking. Seek her thoughts, share your wisdom with friends and family, and enjoy! |
This application is always ready to offer you some stress relief or just a smile, or possibly even some sage advice just at the right time. You never know what sayings Fortuna has in store for you, and like life, it will usually be a fun surprise. They can be saved to your newsletter or blog, sent via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or e-mail,and you could have 'read-aloud silliness contests' with friends.

Ask Fortuna is now a FREE application, with the extra feature of 'Speak-to-me' as an additional $1 in-app-purchase. That is cheaper than a bag of potato chips, and much healthier!
Available for any intel Macintosh, macOS 10.9 and up | Available for iPhone (the 5 and newer) and iPad (the ancient iPad 2 and newer) and iPod Touch, iOS 9 and newer |
Ask Fortuna wants to be so much more! However, after a year of working on it I had to stop adding features and get it out to you! So, now I have to ask you the important questions. What new things would you like to see next?
After you enjoy the software, feel free to send me an e-mail and suggest a new feature you might like 'Ask Fortuna' to have. Although I cannot promise answering all e-mails or getting all the requests done, I would love to hear what you want! I will collect and read all your requests, and I look forward to continuing to improve 'Ask Fortuna' and making even more fun things for you.
Here are some ideas that are already simmering on the stove of possibility:

Most people you ask would say they don’t believe in fortune-telling, but if given the chance to have someone tell them a fortune or even predict something, they might give in just for the fun of it. Many actually believe in fortune tellers. Whether you are one or the other, it might be worth your while to check out Ask Fortuna. It’s an app that plays the part of a fortune teller; something you can call up and questions anytime you want.
On its own, driven by a creative randomizing engine, it shares interesting sayings and predictions that are not cookie-cutter, but most unexpected. Quotes and sayings are driven by artificial intelligence, so no two users will same the same messages or predictions. It caters to you. Which makes it feel like a personalized fortune teller, all your own. These sayings can be saved and then shared with family and friends. Some can be quite entertaining and some may be best left to yourself.
What is nice about Ask Fortuna is that it’s fun. Any time of the day, you can pick it up and ask the app to provide you with a pick-me-up or just something to lift your spirits. The interface is super simple, there’s really nothing you have to do. Simply download the app and it will automatically display a saying. If you turn the audio on, Fortuna will speak your fortune. You can also choose different voices, if you want.
Some sayings are serious, some are calming, and others will make you laugh. Overall, it’s a nice app that can draw your attention away from whatever might be on your mind, and help you focus on something else, for a while.
Saying can be saved and used in whatever you want. You can send them to others via messaging, email and many other social media channels. If your friends have the app, too, you could have a daily fortune telling share and contest, to see who’s was best.
If you liked a particular fortune, you can re-display it by typing in the Karma-code assigned to it. Each message has a unique Karma-code. These codes can be typed in from the Bookmark screen. Fortunes can be bookmarked, too. You can save up to 10 sayings.
If you want to be surprised with your fortune without having to open the app, you can setup Daily Dose. The app will then display a message once a day, on its own. They will show up in the Notification Center or in the app, and you can read them either way. Another way to get instantaneous fortunes is by shaking your device while the app is open, mimicking the old magic 8-ball some of you may be familiar with!
Seeing these random messages every so often is fun, but it would be neat if the app provided a few other features besides the messages. I am sure the creator has things in mind that I look forward to checking out in future updates.
Until then, Ask Fortuna will be my go-to for fun and entertainment and a quick inspirational source when I need something funny to reroute my outlook for the day.
