I have the latest version of kies,os x, and a galaxy s2 with cm10 on it. It is set to MTP with usb debugging off (if it's on usb storage rather than mtp, kies crashes). I tried playing with many parameters but none of them seem to work - when i plug in my galaxy kies shows 'connecting' and nothing happens. (the program itself is not stuck). Well,
1. You can try using another pc or laptop.
2. The desperate resort (very risky): LOL
If you re-install Samsung Kies, do a clean uninstall first. Try Revo uninstaller (freeware before) or similar uninstallers. That way, the registry will be cleaned and no left-over files will be left. Word of CAUTION: Be sure you delete the right registry entries, and also the apps you downloaded via Kies will be deleted. I don't know if copying your downloaded apps and pasting it later after re-installation will do the trick.
If you're not familiar with editing registry entries, DON'T DO THIS PROCEDURE. :-)
And 3, just bring your phone to the nearest Samsung Service center. (Kung malapit lang, dalhin mo na.) Try to do # 1 muna.
I tried to update my phone today. Got a message that a new FW version is available. Went through the process, then suddenly hit a snag. Something about the connection being closed down by the remote server. Restarted my laptop and my phone too. And the new FW version message is gone. After bada 1.2, I'm moving on.
This is my last post here in GSMArena tol. Hope your phone will be fixed soon. If only people here would think first before they post. (Ang iba kasi dito, kung maka-ingles na, akala mo kung sinong magaling.) I have little patience for such behavior. (Kung sinong pikon, talo. Pikon ako eh.) Against my better judgment. (Iba ang pinaringgan ko, hindi ikaw tol).Hehehe.

An absolutely amazing phone with unused potential (Bada OS). In short it's probably the best made phone that I've ever had, but the software while stable and neat is very boring and limited if it comes to the app market.

Bought the Wave 8500 just 2 weeks after launch...and the only regret is that the number of apps are fairly limited. It has better hardware than even the Iphone4(SAMOLED is far superior to the Retina Display) Bada OS maybe new, but considering this fact, it is still nearly flawless. The beauty of BADA is it capitalizes on the strongpoints of the Android and the iOS platforms, while neglecting their weaknesses. By having this phone, you will never miss an iPhone or Android phone.

just i hv gone to movies and opend utv movies thre i hv got subscription rates for daily weekly n monthly basis though i was jst tryng i hv gne fr daily 10rs pack.....and thts it ....10 rs has been dedctd and the next time when i opend link and gone for utv movies it was running smoothly......till midnight.....ya browsing tht tv site is absolutely free so enjoy ......

This would be possibly the most dysfunctional phone that I have used. It has some good features, screen etc., but they are completely swamped by poor design and bad implementation. Forget the lack of apps, I don't play games and don't need them, the phone is irritating in that it constantly requires several attempts to select the right app from the screen. Half the time it acts as though you have selected an app at the point where you touch the screen in order to swipe. Its battery life is as bad as the early analogue Nicad powered phones. I am used to BlackBerry Storm II and iPhones as well as some using Android. All of them are superlative by comparison to the Wave. We have just been given five of the annoying little time wasters as free upgrades to existing plans. We are about to 'wave' them goodbye and insist on fully functional phones to replace them as NO ONE on the staff has a good word to say about them. For those who are familiar with quality smart phones, they are a joke. For kids or some for whom this is their first smart phone they might be acceptable.

How to Back Up the EFS on Samsung Devices
We learned on our previous article that the EFS folder is a very important folder to back up regardless if you plan to mess with it or not. There have been horror stories of those who simply failed at flashing their smartphones a couple of times and ended up losing their IMEI.
Before you start messing with your device in any way other than the normal operation, one must back up all the things you can back up. Today, we learn about actually backing up the EFS folder.
Preparing for Backup
Power Levels
Before you back up your EFS folder, there are some things you need to get your hands on. First is to have your Samsung smartphone on full power, making sure there would be no interruption in the process.
Backup Program
Another thing you need is an EFS Backup software. For the sake of the tutorial, we would be working with the EFS Pro application developed by lyriquidperfection of XDA Developers. You can go directly to his thread, or maybe just go to the download page from here:
From there, simply click on the download button as shown in the image below.
USB Debugging
On your smartphone, you need to enable it for USB Debugging mode. If you don’t know how to do that, a comprehensive guide can be found in one of our earlier blog posts:
USB Mode
We also need to make sure that your device is set up to interact with the program rather than offer up the mass storage mode. Depending on your device, you may have to set it up differently.
On some of the newer phones, this means keeping the phone on MTP connection. There would be no other option to use since both the mass storage and interactive connection has been merged using the MTP protocol.
On some of the older phones, upon connecting the smartphone, it would prompt you for the type of connection you want to use. Otherwise, you need to navigate to the USB Options found on the “Wireless and Networks” settings. The appropriate connection type would usually be labeled as “Samsung Kies” for both situations.
PC Status
For the sake of the EFS Pro application, you should also install the Microsoft .Net 4.0 framework so that the program can run smoothly. Currently, this program runs only on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Running EFS Pro
Extract the downloaded file into any directory you want. Open the folder and look for the “EFS Pro.exe”. Run it like you would a normal program. A reminder would tell you to enable USB Debugging in case you skipped that part of the guide. Choose “Ok” to proceed.
The application will go through the initialization process. Once complete, a window will fade in that looks like this:
Making a Backup
To make a backup of your EFS, you need to identify first where you plan to keep that backup image. You can either save it to the phone, the PC or both. Back-ups are best stored on both if you still have space on your smartphone. Otherwise, make sure to keep it safe within your PC.
Once you have decided where to save the backup, simply click the “Backup EFS” button. The process would reflect at the bottom of the window with the black background. Once completed, the last line it should say is “Operation Finished!”
To ensure that you always have this data ready, make other copies of the backup and make sure to have it stored in different media as well. You can download and flash a new ROM anytime, but you can’t find another copy of your phone’s EFS data anywhere. It is a unique file that should be kept safe to keep you away from Samsung repair centers.
